The First Wearable Built Around Gate Control Theory.
You are not the pain. You are more, with PainArmor.
PainArmor’s Targeted ElectroPulse Therapy (TEPT™) is the first device specifically designed around the Gate Control Theory of Pain. By delivering targeted electrical patterns across the skin, it overwhelms the central nervous system with background signals, effectively ‘closing the gate’ to pain. PainArmor is focused on reducing the sensation of pain and enhancing quality of life
Invented, developed, and patented by a chronic pain sufferer -
During my 3-year struggle with adhesive capsulitis (a.k.a frozen shoulder), a single hour of uninterrupted sleep was my goal and this was my goal for this device. I got relief. You can too.
No pharmaceuticals. No withdrawal.
Serviceable Conditions:
-
When sleep is the goal, let PainArmor shield you from the pain.
-
With or without CBT training, PainArmor can help block pain signals and distract your mind’s attention to the pain.

-
PainArmor wraps snugly around your forearm or leg, and directs evolving patterns of tiny electrical jolts to your skin.

Pain Gate Theory:
Interneurons connect bundles of nerves at the spine. By controlling which messages get through to the spine and brain, the interneurons act like gatekeepers. Interneurons can open the gate to novel, non-painful sensations, thus missing, or closing the gate, to painful stimuli. This is called the gate control theory of pain. While it is possible to have many sensations at once, the novel changes in the sensations and their location on your arm, as well as their frequency/volume, make it difficult for the interneurons to ignore PainArmor.
PainArmor:
PainArmor is the first device specifically designed around the Gate Control Theory of Pain.
By delivering targeted electrical patterns across the skin, it overwhelms the central nervous system with background signals, effectively ‘closing the gate’ to pain.
PainArmor does this by an evolving and randomized treatment, so the program doesn’t repeat and the mind can’t sense a pattern. If a pattern is recognized, then it can be ignored.
Novel, evolving, stimulation at the right level of intensity - that’s one of PainArmor’s advantages over anything else on the market.
Side benefit, the user can also experience their mind being distracted away from the pain. A great help for those using mental training like CBT for managing their chronic pain.
Design:
Thoughtful design for solo use, and with the chronic pain sufferer in mind.
The mental and physical restrictions possible and likely for the user are primary.
The straps wrap around the arm, not buckled, for the easiest fitting.
Lights can turn off during treatment so you can sleep, meditate, or work.
Once the treatment starts, the phone is not required.
You can go for a walk, run, or just put the phone in another room.
Or of course, you can use it, normally.
Result:
We’re all different, and so if our pain. PainArmor is attempting to work with what’s most similar: interneurons, the spinal cord, and the subsequent brain connections where we end up “feeling pain.”
For the inventor, it relieve his pain long enough to sleep for the first time in months, “the best two hours ever.”
For chronic pain sufferers, we know you’ve tried everything. PainArmor helps in a whole new way. It is in a category by itself.
Functionality:
The unit is a wearable Velcro sleeve that wraps around the forearm or your lower leg.
The unit can be controlled by most modern smart phones where the PainArmor app tracks the status of the device and sends the device instructions for treatments.
Treatments are timed, tracked, and come in a variety of styles and intensities.
Charging status, pairing, and other essentials are also communicated through the app.
The controller on PainArmor’s arm band has a button and a light ring for communicating.
The unit may be charged between treatments - total run time varies on the treatment and the intensity but an average run time is over three hours.
